SECTION 1: Make Your Plans
& Have a Vision
Without a plan, even the best intentions drift aimlessly into the wind. Purpose thrives when grounded in clarity and foresight.
As people driven by purpose, we understand that ideas alone are not enough. We must move beyond dreaming, thinking and believing. The Creator desires us to become people who not only have plans but also take action.
If you're facing challenges, or experiencing stagnation, it might be due to a lack of a written personal plan. It is helpful to develop plans in periodic intervals, for example the next 30 days, 90 days, 6 months or five years. You may find that you have had the same goal or dream for the last 5 years, but have not made any progress. Holding onto the same goals without progress can lead to frustration and a sense of being stuck. Often, the absence of a clear, actionable plan is what keeps us from moving forward.
Disillusionment with life—feeling bored or confused—can also be a sign that you're living without a documented vision. When there's no plan guiding your life, each day can feel aimless.
Maybe you’ve been dealing with the same issues, habits and struggles for years. You may feel as though you are trapped in a cycle that you can not break free of. Have you taken the step to write a plan that declares otherwise? Have you written the vision and made it plain, as instructed, so that you can run with it?
You might find yourself slipping back into old habits when things get tough, longing for the "good old days." But without a clear goal in front of you, you'll keep checking the familiar, yet hazardous, paths behind you. Vision keeps you moving forward; the absence of it pulls you back.
Familiarity is one of the roots of addiction and repetitious behaviors which can be hazardous to us, providing a false sense of control. Likewise, ego-driven familiarity creates a false sense of safety. This familiarity could include your self-talk, habits, toxic environments or negative behaviors.
True safety is found in a relationship with the Creator who invites us to create intimacy with the divine aspects of our being, where the essence of divinity resides. Unlike familiarity, which is fixed and unchanging, intimacy with the Creator is about growth and learning. God's promises are reliable and unchanging, providing a true sense of security.
If you don’t document your imagination and dreams, they can fade into disillusionment. But the Manufacturer's word will endure, as Matthew 24:35 reminds us: "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." In the last unit we learned about the importance of speaking according to the manufacturer’s words and visions and developing action plans and S.M.A.R.T.E.R. goals in divine alignment. Without a written plan, your goals can easily shift or be forgotten. To write a plan you first need to have a vision.
