SECTION 4: Making A Plan
The ultimate goal of this course is to convert your thoughts to an action plan which becomes action in the form of potential realized. An action plan is very important in your journey as an individual with unlocked potential and a Kingdom citizen. Action plans and goals keep your eyes focused on the road ahead, rather than looking backward to a path of potholes, familiarity or least resistance. In the absence of a plan and a lack of relationship or knowledge of your Manufacturer, you may slide forward a little only to slide backward again.
“If there is no vision in front of you to pull on, you will be dragged back to the path you know well.” (Understanding Your Potential, Dr. Myles Munroe 1991, p. 82)
Your ideas must be documented and written down if they are to have any influence on your life. Make a plan. Be intentional and responsible about formulating and organizing your thoughts, acknowledging that they come from the mind of your Creator. You were born to be a visionary and a missionary. You are called to be a person on a mission with divine purpose on the inside. Having a plan gives you an anchor and a firm foundation. With a written plan you are less likely to change your mind frivolously. Therefore, progress requires an action plan. Having 3 month, 6 month, 1 year and 5 year goals for yourself allows for you to stay accountable to yourself, stay encouraged and keep moving forward on track.
Having a plan does not mean that every mark and milestone is met when you may have planned or intended but it does create a tangible commitment for you to work towards and surrender in faith. We were given the mandate to write down our plans in Habakkuk 2:2. Give yourself something to be motivated toward. As you dream, think, imagine and plan who you want to be. You will begin to see, understand, and appreciate the purpose for your life. Likewise, you should also feel excited about your potential.
“Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.”
Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV)
Who you really are is who you originally dreamed of being. Reflect on the dreams and imaginings you had as a child. As you begin to start thinking of your Action Plan, let it be driven by faith and confidence to include those goals that seem out of reach. You were designed to make the impossible possible. Free yourself from the negativity of those who doubted you, rise above the dream killers and trust in the One who created you. Your action plan should be motivated by faith and driven by hope. Nothing is too big for the Creator. Do not minimize your significance, if you can dream it, you can achieve it. Ensure that those dreams are divinely inspired and are not vain imaginings. So long as your desires are in alignment with the Creator’s will, who promises to give you the desires of your heart, your path will lead to success. If you can conceive it, you can achieve it.
